Preparing the Next Generation of Medical Professionals
January 26, 2016
Dozens of future medical professionals got an opportunity to learn about the role of paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) in emergency medical settings. Harris County Emergency Corps paramedic Sue Poparad talked to several health science classes at Davis High School on January 20, 2016.
Sue explained the daily activities and duties of an ambulance crew and allowed students to try on and operate some of the equipment. Students also got an opportunity to tour the ambulance.
Many of these students aspire to become doctors, nurses, PAs, paramedics and EMTs (Basic, Intermediate and Paramedic). The information from and contact with professionals like Sue will help them accomplish their goals. Davis instructors say offering direct exposure to careers in medicine and the sciences furthers students understanding and appreciation of medical professionals.
