HCEC brings Stop The Bleed to Aldine ISD

September 11, 2019

HCEC teamed up with Aldine ISD Stop the Bleed (Train-the-Trainer) Course.  Texas House Bill 496 has tasked all schools in the state to have emergency action plans, house a bleeding control kit, and provide continuing hemorrhage control training for school staff, district peace officers, and students in 7th grade and above.  HCEC instructors, along with two SETRAC staff members, taught EVERY ALDINE ISD SCHOOL NURSE (totaling 81) how to both apply and teach bleeding control skills and didactic content.  These topics included tourniquet application, wound packing, chest seal use, and shock management.  We had a great class, and the nurses seemed to really enjoy the content, the interaction, and the various stations.  The goal is that the nurses, now certified as Stop The Bleed instructors, will be able to offer the required training to their respective campuses.

We would like to thank our partners, the East Aldine Management District and Aldine ISD for helping to fund this initiative!
